Acqui Terme

Acqui Terme (10km) is a lively small town (20‘000 inhabitants). The Old Town with its pedestrian zone has been carefully renovated over the past years. Here one will find countless cafés, restaurants, wine bars and shops offering local specialities.

Weekly market (Tues. and Fri.), organic market (1st Sat. of the month), flea market (last Sun. of the month), and many other events, e.g. the truffle market in the autumn, and various exhibitions and concerts.

Grappa-Distillerie Berta

In der näheren Umgebung lohnt sich auch ein Besuch in der Distillerie “Berta” bei Mombaruzzo. Berta ist der grösste Grappa Produzent im Piemont, in schöner Umgebung gelegen und mit beeindruckendem Grappa Keller. Es können interssante Führungen mit anschliessender Degustation gebucht werden.

Wine cellar in Canelli

Canelli is known for its wines and the simply beautiful wine cellars that have been built into the hill (UNESCO-World Heritage Site). We will be happy to organise a guided tour for you in Canelli or in other wine cellars in the region.

Ligurian coast
– Sea excursion

The nearest place beside the sea is Albisola, a typical Ligurian smal town, located next to Savona. One finds in Albisola many small restaurnats, some directly on the sea or in one of the pedestrian passageways. The beach is lined during the summer with the typical ‚bagni‘; among them however, are open sections of beach.

Just a few kilometres along the steep coast, shortly after Savona, there are two very beautiful beaches.

Hiking can begin directly from the house. We have marked a few short and middle distance hikes for you.

The environs are superb for cycle tours for both mountain bikes and racing cycles, according to preference. The hosts will be glad to show you the most beautiful routes. We can also organise mountain bikes so that you can undertake individual tours, or a local guide who will show you the best routes (www.piemontexperiences.com).

Tip 1 / racing cycle

Setting out directly from our house for approximately 8 kilometres in the direction of Aqcui Terme. From there into the hills of Valle Erro towards Ponzone at roughly 630 metres above sea level. Then, by way of Cartosio (or with a very beautiful additional loop over Sassello), one returns to Località Tasso.

Tip 2 / racing cycle

Via Sassello over the pass on the Ligurian coast (Albisola). The return route can be taken by the way of Ellara or Varazze. One must contend with ascents that total a difference in altitude of circa 1 000 metres.

Tip 3 / racing cycle or mountain bike

owards the village of Cartosio, by Colombara and across the bridge to Montechiaro d’Acqui. From there over the crest towards Castelletto d’Erro with splendid 360° panoramic view. The descend is in direction of Melazzo and via Arzello back to Località Tasso.

A slightly different route can be chosen for mountain bike tours.
